Treasurer

My name is Dorothy Furneau. I hail from Belombre, a small fishing village in the north of the main island, Mahe in the beautiful islands of the Seychelles. I spent 30 years of my life in Italy where I met my husband, Lilo. We are also blessed with a daughter named Perla. Although Italy became my home, I could never get over my birthplace. So, a decade ago, the family moved to the Seychelles. I am lucky to have a supportive husband and daughter. They have always been my biggest fans in all my volunteer works. Perhaps it was my humble beginnings and my childhood struggles that drove me to focus most of my free time and energy in helping the less fortunate ones. I have accumulated years and years of silent success stories in helping the less fortunate ones in my country. Indeed, I have always been a strong advocate of the less fortunate and an active volunteer in helping the NGOs and like-minded organizations in charity works in Seychelles. My networking’s have taken me to other countries in the world and I have organized trips for sponsors and charity partners to visit Seychelles. My efforts were rewarded and recognized by the Seychelles Government when I was asked to be a Seychelles Tourism Ambassador in Italy.

In 2013, I secured a consultancy with the Lazare Properties, a private company in the Southern part of Mahe. I was subsequently promoted as Liaison Manager. In spite of my demanding and hectic work schedules, I still make time for my charity activities. They say birds of a feather flock together. I am inclined to believe that it is no coincidence that I met Alma, the founder and the spirit behind the White Feather Fund. A venture that I am so proud to associate myself with. Alma is equally if not more passionate about helping the less fortunate. I was privileged to meet her at my workplace although the circumstances of our first encounter was rather painful. I had just lost my best friend and work colleague in a tragic accident. It was that first encounter that catapulted the conception and processes to set up our own NGO, White Feather Fund of which I am an active member.

Blessed are those who help the less fortunate and indeed White Feather Fund is a blessed organization with a passionate and dynamic team. I am excited and ready to devote my time and energy for this good cause.
